James River Academy Summer Camp

About
JRAD hosts an annual summer camp for students entering grades 4th to 8th to learn more about the world of Model UN and public speaking.
Students will plan, discuss, and speak as a group to unlock their voices and boost their confidence as they enter the real world.
Each grade has specialized lectures and activities created by volunteer instructors every year. Our instructors are experienced high school students who have participated in many conferences and won various awards.
Camp Schedule Outline
Students will arrive at camp and go into their respective classrooms. They will learn and engage in lessons until lunch time at noon. Afterwards, students are allowed outside before returning to classes in the afternoon. A snack break will take place later, and then classes resume until dismissal.

Our Emphasize on Accessibility
Our mission is to allow all students the opportunity to enter the world of Model UN. The five-day camp will provide lunch, snacks, and paper materials for all students at a base price. We choose to keep prices as low as possible so that way as many students can enroll as possible.
For more information on pricing, see Next Year Camp Info.
This Year (2025)
This year’s JRAD Camp allowed over 60 students to experience an exciting week of growth, creativity, and collaboration.
Our 4th and 5th graders explored the art of public speaking and research through interactive games, building up to their final Passion Project Presentations on topics they were interested on.
Meanwhile, our 6th–8th graders took on the challenge of critical thinking, diplomacy, and debate in a full-scale Mock Model UN Conference. From collaborating with fellow delegates to delivering powerful speeches, every camper left with new skills, greater knowledge of the world around us, and unforgettable memories.
