Hey Everyone! I’m Abeer and I am the Vice President of Outreach here at JRAD. I am 13 years old and attend Moody Middle School, and am what Aditi would like to call one of the more “vertically-challenged” team members. Nevertheless, I haven’t let that stop me from playing an instrumental role in planning our annual summer camp, which is right around the corner!
I first got involved in this wonderful organization when I participated in the 2025 summer camp, and to be honest, it was amazing!! While I could go on and on about how great the instruction was and how much I learned (believe me, I learned a lot), the best part was easily the most overlooked and that was the quality of staff. All the instructors were caring, understanding, and they delivered top-quality instruction.
Overall, the camp furthered my interest in MUN and debate so when I went on to compete in state and national level conferences such as TJMUN, I was able to be one of the most competitive delegates present. Moving on, earlier this year, I was given the opportunity through the JRAD travel team to attend the 49th iteration of the Old Dominion Model United Nations Conference, one of the most prestigious college conferences in Virginia. Through the guidance and with the help of my amazing double delegate, Prithwish Chatterjee, I was able to win an honorable mention, my first ever award in a college conference. While I may have won an individual award, it does not take away from the performance of our group as a whole. The pinnacle of our performance was winning the best delegation award, and as a group of around 15 students based out of a church’s basement, this was a huge achievement.
If you haven’t registered yet and are a passionate student about MUN and also love public speaking, consider joining next year! By the way, we still have a lot of payments that need to be submitted, and I know none of you want to miss out on a week of fun and games!
To close, I urge you to check our instagram (@jr_diplomacy1) as we have lots of new and exciting content coming soon courtesy of our Director of Outreach, the great Saanvi. Remember, we are open to donations at any time and they are greatly appreciated, since we are a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
Finally, to answer Aditi’s question from the June vlog, I was the VP that ended up being brave enough (not forced, I promise) to post first.
Thank you!
Abeer
VP of Outreach
